Thermography is the use of a thermal imaging camera to detect localised thermal variances compared with background temperatures.
When viewed by a thermographic camera, warm objects stand out well against cooler backgrounds.
These localised variances can be caused by Electrical or Mechanical overloads, fault conditions or variances in surface temperature caused by heat loss or gain.
Abnormal thermal variances are an indication of a potential problem.
How can Thermography help you?
Thermography allows the non destructive testing and detection of Electrical or Mechanical overload, fault conditions or variances in surface temperature caused by heat loss or gain before the problem leads to major plant failure or undetected energy losses through inefficiencies.
While a thermal imaging camera won't tell you what is wrong, the thermal differences will help pin point where heat is being generated or escaping, moisture seeping in, or something else which may require close attention. By detecting anomalies, often invisible to the naked eye, thermography allows corrective action to be taken before costly systems failures occur.
Uses for Thermography
Electrical Installations
Detection of overloaded or overheating switch boards, motor control centrers & cabling
Detection of loose, corroded or high resistance electrical connections
Detection of overloaded or unbalanced systems
Potential fault detection in electrical substations and switchgear
Insulation & thermal measurements for motors and drives
Detection of faults on printed circuit board
Mechanical Installations
Detection of bearing wear
Detection of overloaded motors, pumps, fans, compressors and gear boxes
Detection of wear in mechanical rollers, chains and belt conveyors
Detection of HVAC problems - poor or damaged insulation and leaking seals
Oil and Gas storage - level detection
Inspections of furnaces and boilers

How do we report to you?
After completion of a thermographic survey we will prepare a comprehensive written report for you, that will include photographs and recommended remedial action for all items of your installation that are found to be abnormal.
Periodic Surveys
We strongly recommend that we carry out a thermograpic survey on an annual basis ( Some insurance companies insist on it), as each survey sets a bench mark for what is considered normal for the particular installation and enables easy detection of deterioration in the condition of the plant or buildings and earliest attention to the problem before remedial costs escalate.
Who will attend to or organise the required remedial work?
As registered electricians with considerable experience in all aspects of Electrical installations and maintenance, we are fully qualified and ready to carry out any remedial work identified by our thermographic survey.
